This morning we held our literacy transition session for 2019 Foundation students where the current teachers read and taught the students about “The Rainbow Fish”, a much loved children’s book by both students and teachers. After listening and responding to key elements of the text, the students created their own “Rainbow Fish.”
Whilst the students were engaged in their learning, those adults who brought the students for the session, went away for morning tea and the opportunity to get to know others whose children will be sharing the same learning journey as their own.
The numbers and energy was outstanding and we look forward to working with all in the future!

Today we have had a wonderful celebration of our youngest students reaching their 100th day of school. A wide variety of activities centred around the milestone have occurred and there are incredibly wide smiles on the faces of both students and teachers. The effort of all involved; including the parents with student t-shirts has been amazing as the community has really come together to celebrate!
Here are some of the students comments regarding the day and the year so far:
Cruz FT- I love that I get to do 100 things. I have loved to learn to count to 200!
Evelyn FH- I loved making my hat for my first 100 days. Writing is my favourite thing to do because I have three certificates. My favourite word to write is cat.
Blake FB- I love the number 100 and my nan is 91. I love learning about reading because there are very funny stories.
Parker FH- I have loved everything about my first 100 days. I loved writing about Possum Magic because we wrote about it two times and it was fun.
Hermoine FT- I loved making my first 100 days of school crown. I have loved writing, and writing about lions because they have big manes. My favourite word to write is Hermoine.
Emily FB- We made hats and we got to colour them in. I love learning new numbers in Maths because we can count to 100 because Mrs Beare is helping us.

Late last term, we were privileged to be invited to send a group of Grade 5 leaders to Yarra Hills Secondary College to attend their annual leadership day where future leaders from surrounding primary schools get together to learn from secondary school leaders and from experts in the field. It was wonderful to watch our students brainstorm and complete activities with other students and really hold their own.
All students came away believing that they had learnt new skills that they were keen to put into practise.

Despite the colder winter weather, our Garden Club is firing! Today we saw many students spend their lunchtime helping our parent volunteers work to keep the garden alive and thriving over the winter months. We are looking forward to seeing how the winter hard work feeds into spring and summer!

Having an outstanding Music curriculum leads to diverse and entertaining performances by our students! Run by our Music specialist Mrs Burgess, our Grade 6 students showcased their learning at our whole school assembly. The performances displayed not just wonderful teaching but also an obvious engagement and focus by our students to create something they could be proud to share!
