Yarra Hills Leadership Day

Yarra Hills Leadership Day

Late last term, we were privileged to be invited to send a group of Grade 5 leaders to Yarra Hills Secondary College to attend their annual leadership day where future leaders from surrounding primary schools get together to learn from secondary school leaders and from experts in the field. It was wonderful to watch our students brainstorm and complete activities with other students and really hold their own.

All students came away believing that they had learnt new skills that they were keen to put into practise.

Garden Club

Garden Club

Despite the colder winter weather, our Garden Club is firing! Today we saw many students spend their lunchtime helping our parent volunteers work to keep the garden alive and thriving over the winter months. We are looking forward to seeing how the winter hard work feeds into spring and summer!

Senior School Music Performance

Senior School Music Performance

Having an outstanding Music curriculum leads to diverse and entertaining performances by our students! Run by our Music specialist Mrs Burgess, our Grade 6 students showcased their learning at our whole school assembly. The performances displayed not just wonderful teaching but also an obvious engagement and focus by our students to create something they could be proud to share!

Japanese films by students

Led by our talented Japanese teacher and Film Club co-ordinator Brown Sensei, our students have made numerous videos in both Japanese and English. The whole school were lucky to be shown recently, not only a film being entered into the Atom awards but also a computer game, devised by the students through coding also being entered into the awards. We were blown away by the digital technology capabilities by student’s at Ruskin!

While there are many films uploaded onto Brown Sensei’s YouTube account, here is the most recent film on the account with other’s to be uploaded as they become available.

Katakana Time which won a Special Mention at the Video Matsuri.

Check them out!

Education Week Open Night

Education Week Open Night

Wow what a night!  Not only did our parents have the opportunity to complete fun and engaging activities related to “The Arts” with their children, the courtyard was packed with families to watch both our Junior & Senior Choirs perform.

All songs were sang beautifully and a lovely night of celebrating The Arts and Ruskin Park was had by all.

Well done to the Ruskin Park Primary School community!
